The coastline, which characterizes the Gulf of Trieste is varied and
jagged: gravel and pebble beaches alternate with rocky outcrop of rocks
that form small islands.
From Trieste Monfalcone to the
coast is almost straight, not very high but rocky and the vegetation is
rich and comparable to the Mediterranean. From the city of Trieste, the
coastal arc curves in the two great valleys of Muggia and Koper, deep
gulfs, where the low coast, on beach, alternate with moderately high
and rocky in a succession of inlets, coves and cliffs.
The rocks are those that reach the Karst to the sea, covered with a
unique Mediterranean plants that mix myrtle, oleander and broom, oaks,
cypresses, pines, olives, figs, elderberries, rosemary and laurel.
The rock wall, covered by thick vegetation, you can discover through
its steep paths. From above, the panorama to the west offers a view of
the mouth of the Isonzo, with the Isle of Cona; right, Duino Castle,
which overlooks the bay from the top of his white promontory
overlooking the sea is continuing meets the nineteenth-century castle
of Miramare immersed in the green park, with the front of the marine
reserve and then Trieste and Istria, with Punta Salvore at its western
end.
